LightScribe CD's???

I use them. Kinda cheesy for what you pay. Just a picture quality grayscale on that same old gold-ish CD-R. Kinda cool, but the CD's cost too much.
Also, they are a bit thicker, and will not play on all cd players. FWIW.

The lable burning process is very slow, takes 15-30 minutes per lable, depending on the quality you want. Does a pretty neat job though. They are a little more expensive, but when you add the cost of labeling regular CDs, overall, its about the same.

I have a lightscribe drive. Like what was already mentioned, it burns at different shades of black. Average time to lightscribe a cd/dvd here is about 20-25 minutes, in high quality mode. It's cool to have when you want a special copy of something. Personally, I think it looks alot better than using a cover kit. I'd like it alot more if it was faster and the if the cd's/dvd's were carried by more retailers.

I got my LightScribe alittle over a year ago. Much better than the labelling kits. Even if it is greyscale. I'd much rather spend a month using LS on a DIY project than send out something half as good and save a bit of money, or time. Prices have come down alot in the past year too. I look for LS tech. to increase over the years to come. Speed increases are eminent imo.

I get my LS stuff from the Egg

not in my experience. Its burned on, so i dont see why it would...

I archived about 8 dvd's worth of stuff about a year ago on light scribe dvd's. I needed some files from a couple of those dvd's about a month ago and did'nt notice any fading.

Lightscribe

I like it even though it's greyscale on "gold". My issue with labels is that they eventualy seem to come off in someones CD player. I know some places/companies won't even play a CD if it has a sticky label on it.

The speed issue is annoying. Current Lightscribe software is limited to the laser that read/writes in your CD burner. The next gen. of Lightscribe CD players will have two lasers, one for Read/write and a second, stronger one for Lightscribe burning. They are also working on color, but that is further down the road.
