Heck, even the review "Recording" magazine did of one of my songs didn't make any mention of a problem with the guitar sound.

(Issue July/02)

Different folks, different strokes I guess...

Hey voxvendor! I remember hearing those guitar tracks and they were great! Unfortunately, I have never gotten anything that good out of modeler--and I have tried and tried. My "good" sounds are always done with a miced amp.

So, what does this prove? Nothing! Except that some things work better for certain people!

let's end the whole moddellers suck/are great discussion...

it's gettin boring...

sooo... fender or gibson ? ;)

Guhlenn

Fender rules. Gibson is just a little too proud of their gear right now. Les Pauls are over priced and the quality isn't what it used to be.

fender vsd marshall isn't an option... both have their own following, they're not in the same league...

However i did play one fender with a very nice distortion sound... wouldn't remember the model though...

Guhlenn

The same can be said about fender/gibson. They both are different animals. They even require different playing styles...

If I would still play the amount I played 4 years ago, I'd have both fender and gibson guitars, and both marshall and fender amps. Hmmm... Don't know about that marshall amp... Maybe one of those older ones... I'd have fender, mesa and hiwatt and stuff like that probably. Forget about that marshall...

I think they would compair better that a Strat vs a Les Paul. Afterall, when Jim Marshal built his first amp he just went into a music store and looked into the back of a Fender and copied it.

That probably explains why I kinda like the old marshalls, but rather dislike the new stuff. :D

Nice to know I'm not the only dude around that doesn't really like the marshalls...

PEOPLE!

i was being sarcastic... no way can you compare a fender to a gibson...

Guhlenn

Yeah, Marshals have a sort of nasal sound that I don't care for at all.

which is better?

PC or MAC ?

squire or epiphone (hehehe)?
'
marshall or mesa?

vai or johnson?

black or white?

...

and so on

Guhlenn

I actually like that nasal sound a bit. But their distortion lacks definition in some way. I dunno... It works for some genres, with the right guitar/amp combination and a guy that actually has an idea of how to make it sound.

Alot of it probably comes because the more experienced players go different ways in trying to get a sound they like, and alot of the marshalldudes are just idiots that think marshall is the only good amp ever designed, while not even realizing that they got different designs other than the valvestates and that alltube one. I hate those guys.

Come on Crawdad!!!!! Your falling asleep!!!! :D

A good guitar sound is a good guitar sound period. It's not the matter of it working better for one person...

Everyone will have a variation on prefered sounds, but in the long run, if I can make it sound good anyone should be able to, relatively.....

(BTW Im talking rock here)

Just refer to my "You need to fiddle with it longer" statement (and I don't mean any body parts..) :D

I would never challenge it to take the place of a good combo, BUT it's a tool, and it does work.... The question is, can we make it work.

I say yes. ;)

By the way, thanks for the compliment on my guitar sound Crawdad....

PC or MAC ? Well, I guess a PC would do if you don't use that windows-crap. It's more a question of operating system and support for whatever devices you want to hook up.

squire or epiphone (hehehe)? I think I'd prefer epiphone. For bass I'd go squier.

marshall or mesa? Mesa. Offcourse.

vai or johnson? Don't like any of them. They're good players, but I hate those solo albums. A solo album shouldn't be the same guy soloing all over the album. That's a rather bad missinterpretation...

black or white? I'd go for black. White hurts my eyes... I'd really prefer some rather dark blue tone though...

NO NO NO!

you have to choose ONE of the two... ;)

and i would say mesa is more nasal then marshall... with marshall having lesser definition... that's why i own both!

Guhlenn

Masa is just a copy of Marshal, which is just a copy of a Fender.

and we are all idiots for preferring one...

Guhlenn

in the end it's all about the looks... cuz they all work with tubes... no wait, they all work with a guitar .... no wait they all work with electricity!
