That's a really good song. I love the vocals because I can hear a bit of Janis and Jefferson Airplane. The mix and sound leaves a lot to be desired. Excellent job.
 
As a songwriting demo, this is a great representation of a really good song. As a "mix", yeah, some things need some work. Start with recording a nice acoustic guitar track and overdub away. You have the song to make a great record...

Yea It is pretty much the first recording. Only three tracks, me singing and playing guitar, vocal harmony, and then drums.
It does need some work definitely. I was quite pleased with it for the first take though.

I think it sounds fuckin' great like it is.

I wouldn't change a thing. Love the lo-fi quality. And the performance really does it for me. Great song! Keep writing more like this. What did you record this song with?

BTW...Love your taste in music per your myspace page. Alot of my favs as well.

I love your voice and the harmony you sing. There is a coarse vibrato underlying the tonality that drives it's way into my soul. Much like Morrisette, but more melodic than she as she mostly barks like a dog.

You know, you are the fourth person today to say I remind them of Alanis. I have never been told that before though I can do a kickass version of "You Oughta Know" when I want to lol!

The voice is simply wonderful, love it!
I think though that a great song and a great voice like yours deserve a better quality recording. The acoustic guitar really needs some work. Hope to hear more from you.

Thanks joey. Yeah the recording was done pretty quickly, the guitar is not really my "thing". I use it to write with but I'm not technically very good at it lol. Hopefully I'll improve as I go along.
 
It took me over an hour for me to find this thread. I didn't have it in my favorite folder so I went about it the long way. I want a few friends to hear your sound. The more I listen to your song the more I like it.

Wow! Thanks so much Dodge. It is still strange to me to hear people's reactions to songs I've written that begin as such a personal thing and then are set adrift in the world.

I like it...you have an obvious talent...the lo fi suits the mood of the song and the vocals and composition are excellent :)

vocals = bad ass. Would listen to you live any day. Would love to have heard you singing that into my gear instead though. Don't stop.

I don't know about in the MP4 clinic. But, off the top of my head, I can think of one or two on the board - and a transgender if that counts. :p
