Lexicon MX200 - anyone used this?

I supose I should have stated that more clearly(been working toooo many long hours).

I meant use a piece of harware as a VST or a plugin. Oh trust me I'm old school as well. I use to use so many rack efects and compressors for just a lousy 4track! HAHAAH!

I see your point. My buddy just built a live system for recording groups ect ect.

He built a Rackmount PC with 45dsp's (3 cards 15 DSP each) Hes using RME cards. two 25 inch lcd monitors and on and on.

The cost of using all that was like $6-8,000.00! Thats nuts! I can see owning like one Creamware luna for $500 and you could run 10 plugins on it. But $8000.00! I'll just buy a bunch of hardware! HAHAH!

Oh and the $0.02 do you take visa? :)

Great to be able to talk to someone from Lexicon :)

My question is about midi synced time for the delay effects: What exactly is capabilty to sync to midi clock? I have seen it mentioned but cannot really find any data in the manual as to what the delay time control does when time synced: Is it still the amount in ms? is this amount based on quarter notes, one midi clock pulse or what?

Synch to MIDI

What happens is:

The TEMPO light goes solid (rather than flashing) -- indicating that MX200 is synched to MIDI Tempo.

When locked to MIDI Tempo, the TIME RANGE knob (1st of the three parameter controls for Delays) becomes inactive -- leaving the unit locked to MIDI.

Hope that helps !

cool.
Now how does this affect the settings in the delays? I would assume that the delay time knob should still do something (increment in 1/16, 1/8, 1/4 notes)?

If you mean, setting the # of taps -- then that's parameter #2.

If I recall correctly, there was some discussion about doing divisions of MIDI Tempo with Time Range -- but it made the VST plug work differently than expected. To be PERFECTLY honest -- I haven't tried it with MIDI Synch.

How's THAT for brutally honest?!

fair enough. I'm pretty much sold on the unit so i guess i'll find out :)

I've just got one of these, and the reverb is sounding pretty good to me. Unforunately, I've got some issues with the delays. The MIDI sync doesn't seem to be that accurate, and when placing something into the delay buffer and putting it to 'repeat and hold', the buffer seems to drift from the MIDI clock, and the beat goes out of sync. There's also occasionally some glitches which appear in the delay buffer, again even with it on repeat and hold. I'm trying to see if their tech support will sort this out at all, as it's currently ruining what I'm trying to do with the unit.

cassette 4 tracker...

how is the mx200 for those of us who aren't using DAWs? Can it be used as a simple effects unit through my Portastudio?

Absolutely..... it can be used as a simple effects unit w/ or w/o a DAW.
It's front panel is very intuitive, and real knobs are great....

One thing I really should warn about this thing is that to use the spdif, the signal coming in to it HAS to be the master. Many multifunction cards (like my Maudo Delta Tdif) will only accept master signals on the spdif input, therefore rendering the digital i/o section of this thing USELESS since I cannot use both the TDIF and the SPDIF as a master

Lexicon MX200 WinXP nonSP2 issue

Just recieved my MX200 yesterday and have the same issue as mentioned in this forum. The installer will not install the driver. My DAW is an isolated computer that does not have net access and doesn't need SP2.

Would appriciate any help for a workaround.
Thanks

What is the issue exactly? I dont feel like digging through 6 pages of posts

It's the issue with the winXP without SP2. It is completly refusing to install the drivers. Thanks for the concern I have decided to upgrade to SP2 anyway now.

Thanks

WinXP SP1

Would it be possible to get the instructions, for installing on SP1, public?

Currently I have to use SP1 for other reasons (may change soon, though).

I've got the same problem and fear SP2 will cause me more issues and is not worth the risk.

Hello folks,

I sent a PM to the Lexicon people posting here, but i thought i'dd post my questions on the thread as well and see what you folks can do for me.

I have this pending thought of getting one of these boxes, to pair with my old trusty LXP-1, that i love i should add. But before i do so, before jumping into this, i wanted to know what to expect. My setup consists of an old Allen&Heath mixer (the 1221), and the LXP-1. I find that this setup gets me where i want to be in terms of sound character, and i'm afraid that a newer effects box might change what i've worked so hard to obtain here, wich is an old, analog, warm and tick body to the sound. Much of it resides in the mixer, but i feel that a lot has to do with the LXP-1 of course. So what i'm asking is, does the MX200 compare to the LXP-1 in any way? I mean, i'm only getting myself into this because i feel that i could benefit from something a little more natural sounding, i feel that a more natural unit with a better sampling rate can really help me bring out the sound i get from my console. I do not however wish for it sound modern. And if that's the case, then i'm afraid i'll just have to keep holding on to my old LXP-1. Either way, i thank you folks for the any possible help.

I called Lexicon's technical support today. They told me that, without the XP SP2 upgrade, the MX200 software will not load. I'm in no hurry for the software, but I need to do more reading on SP2 before I decide to install it. Everything is working so well I hate to throw a monkey wrench in the works.

The point is ... Lexicon's tech rep told me there is no work around for the SP2 issue, so either the Lex reps posting here are BS'ing or their tech support doesn't know squat.

I have yet to see any problems with SP2 (i have upgraded at least 2 dozen machines) other than software that uses IE or core networking services. Pretty much all bugs have been reported so if you have doubts, just look up your softwares FAQ regarding SP2

I think I'll wait until Behringer releases the pro version of the this unit.

Newbie MX200 Midi control question

I am a newbie to these things and just ordered an MX200. How can one set up the unit to switch programs (user or preset) using a midi controller pedal such as Rolls unit? Thanks,
Steve
