Im using a lexicon alpha with cubase le5 and i can record stereo just fine when I switch the button to mono on the alpha i still have just right channel output not mono and i tried changing vst connections to get a mono input going on cubase and still get just right channel playback even tho i started a new "Mono" track. Im using the mic three pin input on the alpha.

Seems you just need to create a mono track in Cubase. Project>Add Track>Audio. Select 'Mono'>Add Track.

A stereo track with a mono input, will only have one side/input, this playing on only one side.

Wait, you are monitoring via the Lexicon right? And you only hear the Mic input on one side? That's weird. Do you hear playback from Cubase or whatever through both sides when playing something other than your mic input? If so, then it is something in your VST connections, Track setup, or you didn't change the input source (via Inspector window to left of track) to the new Mono input.

I dont know still new to this obviously lol my moniter is thru the alpha and my mic only sounds on one side even when mono is selected and i select input buss stereo right because thats the only buss that works and try to record on a new mono trac and get only right side on playback frustrating thanks for your help!!!

You just need to create a mono bus via VST Connections. Select the mic input from the Alpha there. Then create a mono track, and select the mono bus input you created, on the left pane.

ok when i switch the input buss from stereo to mono i loose my input altogether i seem to only get input when stereo in is selected and its only right channel the switch on the alpha doesn't seem to do anything

omg I cant get that choice on my inspector only no buss or stereo left or stereo right exist your pic says mono in i cant get that option???

Devices>VST Connections>Inputs>Add Bus. Select Mono under Configuration. Now it will. :)

yeah i did that add a buss from mono input buss dont get signal at all from stereo in i added a mono buss and have to choose the right/input two to get a signal now i have a choice like your pic mono in and select that and still get just right side on playback

devices>vst conn>inputs and select mono inputs i wont get signal
devices>vst conn>inputs and select stereo in and get signal, from there i add a "mono"buss and i will still get play back on the right

First one means you are doing something wrong.

Second one is exactly as it should be.

After you add a new Mono bus, you realize you have to select which input to use from the Alpha, for it right? I am guessing not. After you create the new Mono bus, select the input for it in VST Connections. Yellow Device Port column. :)

yep did that in the yellow box have to choose the right side (stereo two) from under device port and in the inspector choose mono in and leave it stereo out cuz that shouldn't matter and it records a mono trac you can see that its a mono trac but my playback is on the right only

hen you are doing something wrong along the way, or your track is panned. All I could do is give you the steps. If you followed them correctly, then you should be working. You are selecting something wrong man. I used the Alpha for a year. Either that, or you have a defective interface. I am going to guess it is not the interface tho...

It is time for you to post screen shots of VST Connections and Track settings.

OMG I'm still laughing it was hard ware problem lol I have bose external speakers running off my laptop and the alpha seperately and i checked my speakers by just playing a wave file off my desk top cuz it was faster than playin a stereo cubase track and both speakers worked but my alpha is connected to different input and one of the rca's was loose lol but i still needed the help to get the mono trac started and for that i'm thankful sorry to waste your time i have awhile before i graduate i guess lol take care.
