First of all, sorry if I posted this in the wrong place...I'm new to the site.

I've been using Cubase 5.1 and my Lexicon alpha for a few months with little problems...until now. When I record and playback audio, regardless of my cpu usage, I get random and extremely loud buzzing/hissing. I'm even hesitant to call it buzzing or hissing, it's closer to static, like when you turn on your tv. It's definitely not an overload, because it'll happen if I'm just playing back a track with no effects on it or anything else open on my computer.

I've looked for a similar problem on this site and others, but I've found nothing.

Here are a few more specs, maybe they'll help diagnose the problem.
I have a Toshiba Satellite A305, Intel Core2 duo 2.00GHZ
It happens on both the standard lexicon asio driver and the latest version of asio4all.

Any help would be appreciated!

edit: I forgot to mention that it will happen for a period of time, then stop. It can be brief or long...

Hey man this is probably not the answer you want to hear but my first recording rig was a Lexicon Omega and Cubase 4 Studio, I had the same problems. I returned the Unit got a new one and it worked fine, for about two weeks then the same thing happened. I returned it a second time got a Presonus Firebox and that baby worked perfectly until I bought my new setup.

I believe the Lexicon Alpha/Omega interfaces are pure crap, but that is solely based on my personal history.

I hope it pans out for you

Lol I knew that was coming D=
I think that it's time to upgrade anyways.

Thanks for the reply.

Hi,

Somebody Please Help!!!

I bought a Leicon Alpha SoundCard about 2 months ago in order to use with Apple Logic Express. I got a Dynamic Microphone which doesn't need any Phantom Power. My problem is quite difficult to solve. When I record on Mono Mode I get no signal whatsoever or even playback. But, when I record on Audio Mode, I only get signal on the right ear. My Microphone is working fine and the lexicon Alpha but I still don't get Mono Signal and Only right side On Audio. I'm sick of it and been trying for the past two months. I even tried it with Windows (Cubase) and I got the exact same problem.
Any Suggestions please

Based on the info you gave I don't know why it won't record in mono, but I do know why it only records on the right in stereo. The mic input on the back records in mono, but when you try stereo it records on the right just by design. Same with the instrument input on the front, but on the left. you'd be better off using an external mixer into the line ins if you want a stereo recording...
