That sounds nice to me. Crystal clear. Everything kinda in the middle though, but nothing disturbing at all.

I don't know if I would call it "progressive" maybe different terminology over there, but I like the song. First off what are you mixing with?

I recorded the tracks at our practice room with a soundblaster and limited mic choice. AKG MKIII, Beta 52A, Rode NT2.

Im mixing in Cubase with Waves platinum plug-ins. Rverb, REQ, Rcomp
I think thats the only plug ins I used expect I used C1 on the vox also.

It ended up as 52 tracks in total. I have still to record the backing vocals.
I ended up using 5 vocal tracks of the same vocal recording and used differing delays and panned and automated the panning and volume to give a bigger sound.

Cheers.

Thank you.
I have panned alot of the tracks full left and right. Maybe do you mean its more of a symetrical mix rather than not being very wide?

Heres a new clip. I fixed the vocals as they were sticking out a tad at times.

And made some slight changes in the guitars.
I love the sound of the OHs. Not totally pristine sounding. :) Hard to judge on MP3 at 128k though.

Yes, that, i think is what I meant. :) Not kinda bouncing left and right.

Yeah I do like to make my mixes quite solid in that sense. Although if I do get the chance I like to experiment with different panning. For this song I felt it suited it to be more symetrical.

52 tracks?

i'm only listening on my laptop...but i tried counting tracks in my head... do you have 3 mics on the guitar cab? 2 doubled parts....12 tracks. drums ..6? vox apparently 5, bass...24.

I never get how people get up to 50.

Well to start I use aux tracks so for example each guitar part is played twice ususally for double tracking, then I send those 2 tracks to 1 stereo aux track.
I use a different channel for each guitar sound.
For this song I had to record 1 of my guitar parts seperately.
I had to play the top 3 strings of the riff and miss out the bottom 3 strings, then the other way around. That was not easy!! I did that becuase I needed a different amp settings to get the tone I wanted for each 3 strings. Might sound mad but It was the only way I could get the tone I was trying for, even if I didnt quite get there!

All that along with FX channels with stereo reverbs on them. I think I used 5 reverb channels. 1 for snare, 1 for drums, 2 for guitar, 1 for vox.
I had 5 tracks just for the main vocals, and that was all the same 1 recording! I used panning and nudging to create a phasing kinda doubled sound adding in delays and backwards delays, some subtle some not so subtle.
I think it made the son sound interesting with the 5 vocal tracks.

Personally, I'd boost up the vox a bit all around. The performance seems quite good and it's definitely the most interesting thing going on at any one time.

Cheers for your input.
Yeah I love the vox on this track.

Sounds pretty good Eck....and I agree about maybe boosting the vocals a little. I'd like to hear them a bit more. The music sounds really well done. Cool vibe on the song also.

Thanks Dogman.
I listened back to the mix and yeah I think the vox could come up a tad, but not much as I dont like vox to be that loud.

Cheers,
Eck

oh. you're counting bus's and fx buss's, and using a lot of reverbs. i us 1 reverb and send different amounts from each track to it. the separation of the riff is a really odd thing to do...but whatever floats your boat.

I go by the way of thinking, you have to do whatever you have to do to get the sound you are looking for. There are NO rules! ;)

None except "try your best"

Sounds cool! Nice tight bass/kick feel. Good sounding mix to me :)
In what I listened to the vocal level seemed pretty good. Maybe a tad shy.

Thanks man.
Mucho apreciated.

I thought this sounded very cool...strong low end and crisp guitars! Vocals sound a bit buried, but maybe thats due to the part of the song the clip is from? Sounds like a interesting tune, as you mentioned , its hard to judge sonic quality of mps @ 128k bitrate, although if it sounds this good at that compression, I bet it sounds killer uncompressed/wav!
Nice job!!
