i just discovered a whole world of free AU plugins online. i never realized how many you can jus get online.

There are plenty out there - like most of us now, I've got an intel mac - sometimes I find a cool looking AU, but it only works with the older CPUs -argh. Also, it seems like there are tons more Win VST plugs for free, but most of them look pretty not-useful.
I've been using the Stillwell Rocket compressor (not free, but only like $50 or something). Flux ST tool can be interesting (free) and a couple of others. I found that I had to move some of them out of my plugins directory, because at least one of them seemed to be affecting performance even when I wasn't using it. Could have been my imagination, dunno.
