Lets talk about Blue Sky Monitors for a while.

I've gone and listened to several monitors and I am perplexed. So far the one's that I think I want to get are the Blue Sky "Sky System One". I would like to get the 2.1 set up and later expand to 5.1 for video and advanced audio editing.

The thing about them is, 1) they seemed a little bright when I listened to them. Almost where they were covering up the mids. And the Bass seemed oddly weak. Now some of this might just be the room, some might be the source cd's. I haven't listned to them in my own setting yet.

Still Something just draws me to these. For those who don't know the sky system one 2.1 system costs $1,600.

Can anyone and everyone tell me everything they know about these speakers? The good, the bad, and the ugly. Maybe tell me some other speakers to check out yet. So far I've looked at Makie HR 480, Genelec 30's and other stuff typicly at guitar center.

I hope nobody minds me chiming in...

First, as with any speakers system, the response of the system is influenced by the room and the boundaries near the speaker system. If you look at the measurement data, you will notice that the SAT 6.5 is very flat / smooth on and off axis (measurement data below). If the speaker is placed near many reflective boundaries, there can be a HF spectral shift. It is recommended that you adjust speaker placement and possibly add acoustic treatments, to minimize HF reflection at the listening position.

With regard to the bass being weak, I would say that this is probably a calibration related issue. Additionally, subwoofer placement could also be an issue. We do address these issues on our website. www.abluesky.com/subplacement & www.abluesky.com/calibration

In general, some dealers don't always take the greatest care in optimizing the monitoring systems they are demonstrating. Often it requires doing the demo in your studio to make sure the system is correct for you.

On axis frequency response versus listening window. Listening window is an average of the +/- 15 degrees horizontal and +/- 15 vertical measurements.

I REALLY liked them. and just cuz there's a sub don't mean the bass needs to be pounding.. was there alright though.

I purchased the the Blue Sky system one package about a a year ago. I had been looking for good monitors and looked at a lot of them and was leaning towards the Mackies HR824's until I heard the Blue SKy system one's. I kept going back to store and every time I listening to them I was just amazed at what I was hearing. Actually the sales rep talked me into listening to them the first time and I am glad he did. A year later after owning them for 12 months I still would buy them again they are awesome. I heard things jump out of mixes almost immediately, I wasn't hearing before and it helped solve some of my mix translation problems. The Bass is awesome, I don't know how they were setup where you heard them, but I think the bass is powerful, but more important blends in with the monitoring package so well for a full rich sound experience. All I can tell you is you won't be disappointed, I crank up the volume whenever I want and they never disappoint or distort, I just think the are amazing and I am one very happy customer.
