I too am also way late for this, but I thought I would give it a shot. I added some reverb to the guitar, the mandolin, and some of the cymbals. I also added a phaser effect to the synthesizer. I EQ'd every track. The instrumental sounds good to me, but I am not satisfied with the vocal. Some of the more quiet sections seem too quiet. Ahh well. I wonder what you think of it.

Did u use drum samples or did u just mix the original drum tracks?

Hmm I see someone who posted an mp3 in there comment . Dont see a way to do it . I'll put a dropbox link . Figured I would try this out . I Like your voice . you should try to do a little more pitch training . It would help you out a lot I thought this tune was a little more intimate and left out the synth . It has more of an REM vibe to it . thought it sounded better without it .

I didn't realize how far back the song dated to, but I was sort of taken by the lyrics and vocals, and thought that at heart the song is pretty traditional, and all that kept if from moving in a standard fashion was a bass that took its cue from the mandolin and the drums, and voila!, it got more accessible, perhaps.
