OK, things are getting testy over on the Guitar board, and the glove has been thrown down! It's time for a guitar shootout!

Ummm, rules, there really aren't any. The basic idea was to highlight your particular harmonic or scalar approach to the solo, so be sure to post what your strategy was.

I will make a backing track off of the cheesy demonstration tunes on my Yamaha YPP-15, and you just have to pick one to solo over!!

I'll try to get the backing tracks up later tonight.
 
is the contest open to organ solos as well? ... i stink at lead guitar.

Well, the organ's not quite the phallic symbol that the guitar is, so I don't know if it will be quite as effective. Although, after re-reading what I just wrote ... it is called an "organ," so that's gotta be worth something.

Yeah it's open to pretty much anything, as long as you THINK like a guitarist.

I'm really a bassist, so I'm going to have to drink a lot and hit myself in the head a couple of times to get in the right frame of mind :D
 
I play the bass better than I solo, too... I know one scale, though... does that count? :o
 
OK, got the demo tracks transferred. Just to help everybody out, I add 'tewb' warmth to the c. 1990 synth patches this keyboard uses. It's delicious!

The bad news is somehow I left myself without encoding software when I reformatted the ol' PC last month. The good news is my brand new copy of Wavelab is due tomorrow, so if y'all can wait a day, I'll have it up.

Tim, if you're reading this, can you host the mp3? If not I need a volunteer :D I don't have a soundclick page, and I don't think I'm making one just for this.

Mshilarious, I'd better wait till next time. I'm getting too high a percentage of internal server errors at the moment and I think I've screwed something up with my last site update. The joys of the web.
