Let me introduce myself...

And so it was in the year or our Dave, 297 AD (After Dave) that the people were downtrodden and tired and could not get the right eq mix on their guitar tracks. And so the first musician spake thusly "Oh Dave, how can we get our tracks to sync to our midi clocks, and how shall thou get a nice kick sound that is not dull?"

And then for a great time the anonymous thread stalkers waited with baited breath to hear what famous Dave might say to these poor tormented souls. And finally on the 40th day Dave said to thee in a quiet voice (but with no hiss or want of any frequency boost):

Famous Dave said:
I would agree, your problem with the guitars and toms sounds like an eq issue. You might also try panning the toms and guitars to opposite sides of the stereo spread and see if that helps. As far as eq, I would try to boost and then sweep the eq on the guitars to find the frequency that makes them as ugly and muddy as possible. That's your problem spot. Once you have found the ugly frequencies, then reduce those ugly frequencies and see if that helps.

And so it was...

Where there's a Dave theres a way!

Every Dave has a silver lining!

One in the hand is worth two in the Dave!

There was something in the air that night
The stars were bright, for man Dave
They were shining there for you and me
For liberty, for man Dave

Half a league half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the DAVE:
'Forward, the Light Brigade!
Charge for the guns' he said:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the DAVE.

'Forward, the Light Brigade!'
Was there a man dismay'd ?
Not tho' the soldier knew
Some one had blunder'd:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do & die,
Into the valley of Death
Rode the DAVE.

Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volley'd & thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the DAVE.

Flash'd all their sabres bare,
Flash'd as they turn'd in air
Sabring the gunners there,
Charging an army while
All the world wonder'd:
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Cossack & Russian
Reel'd from the sabre-stroke,
Shatter'd & sunder'd.
Then they rode back, but not
Not the DAVE.

Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon behind them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
While horse & hero fell,
They that had fought so well
Came thro' the jaws of Death,
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
Left of DAVE.

When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
All the world wonder'd.
Honour the charge they made!
Honour the Light Brigade,
Noble DAVE!

THEN HE GOT BETTER

What the hell school did you guys go to? I've never even heard of that crazyness.

School for the highly gifted.
Special government sponsored experimental education for high IQ rated children .... It was like a prison camp.

Well all schools are like prison camps :)

I don't remember ever having to memorize any long prose like that... of course I was distracted by other things in those days. like chicks and booze -

Hold that thought.... I can't believe I let my 5000th post slip by without a celebration. Oh well... next milestone is my 7148th post.

BTW: I'm Dave, just not the famous one.
