You're thinking of Studio 1.
Studio 3 is far smaller and more intimate than 1 or 2

yes ,shit your are correct. #1 was the big one where they did " all you need is love". One this subject. Ringo said at an interview he loved recording the tune "yer blues", white album, because they were not all separated. They all just went into this "little room". So that must not have been recorded in 1 ,2 or 3. I wonder where?

Definately Studio 3....it's a documented session. ;)

beatles abbey road gtr solos..

I have yet to read anything on the guitar solos and the end of the abbey road album (as long as we are on beatles). For me, the trade off solos are among the best ever recorded by anyone. Now, how did they do it? I cant imagine. John, Paul and George just sat in a circle and played together until they got a take with each playing an incredible solo each time their spot came up. Could they have done it like a jam, liked an extended version of the section each trading off every 2 bars then George Marin and Geoff Emereck edit in the good parts of each player? When I listen it sounds like Paul then George then John but at times Georges part sounds like Clapton! His vibrato in particular.

Will have a listen tonight and work out the order but from what I remember I don't think Johns' part would have required multiple takes. Georges' may have since he was the kind of player who never really came up with an on the spot solo but developed it over a number of takes.....adn Paul? Well, it's just Paul isn't it....who knows?

My daughters b'day on July 1 ( 13 years old ) and I bought her, her own copy of Revolver ( both hers and my own favourite album ) and am always mezmerirzed by Paul's "Taxman" solo.

From what I understand of the techniques at Abbey Road, where most tracking was done and bounced down to 3 tracks leaving track 4 open for guitar solo I'm guessing that it may have been a live recording with multiple takes.........anyone?

I think the order for The End solos was Paul, George, then John. An accurate description of the type of solos they did I read once was that Paul's was the technical one, George was the melodic one, and John was the rhythmic one.

And yes, George and Clapton have very similar playing styles. Even though Clapton is a technically better player, George's sound is very similar. The End is a good indication of this.

I would love to see these guys play The End live. I've seen Paul do the trading thing with his two other guitarists, but imagine John, George, and Paul up on stage doing that for several minutes!

*melts at the mere thought*

EXCELLENT!!!!!

EXCELLENT!!!!!

Paul is in no way technical. He is a choppy player. Taxman solo is a classis example.Harrison and Clapton are in no way similar in style. First and most unimportant Harrison does not/never did have a vibrato like Clapton. Claptons is very smooth, Harrisons is very "QUIVERY". A much faster vibrato than Clapton which leads me to question the solos at the end of abbey road. I believe the third round for "Harrison", it has a very classic Clapton sound especially the vibrato and the last note.

I think what we'd have to do is define what each word meant to each of us....ya know? Your "choppy" might be "technical" compared to John/George in someone else's view/reference.

Edit: my bad example is that ( due to my lack of "industry jargon" ).....I may ask someone how they get a BIG vocal track and they tell me to add a reverb plug but what I'm chasing is double tracking.

Paul is not a fluid player, short stints of notes. Examples are Taxman and end solos of abbey road, very similar in style. Yes Harrison is a very melodic player. I love his playing. Very underated. Lennon, rth. bassed. Makes it chunk, great rth. player. If you listen to "Harrisons" last solo spot on abbey road"the end",the vibrato is unlike anything he has ever done ever, but it is exactly like Clapton.
