The Story Thus Far:
A while ago I bought an Agile Les Paul styled guitar. I love the way it plays, but would like hotter pickups on it. Also, the pots are pretty bad. They crackle and p op, even after cleaning them many, many times. Recently they started to completely cut out frequently. Because of this I plan on changing both the pickups and the pots.

The Questions
I play mostly heavy music. I've been looking into Kent Armstrong pickups (Distortion/Ultra Distortion), Mighty Mite Motherbuckers, and the new Wilburn Custom Shop Metalbuckers. Has anybody had experience with any of these pickups?

Also, I've been considering adding some push/pull pots for coil splitting. Would this be worth it (effective) on a Les Paul?

Thanks!

I don't have any experience with the pick ups you mentioned, but I have installed split coil humbuckers on every guitar I've owned, simply because I like the versatility.

It won't give you totally authentic Strat sound; when I want that, I pick up my Strat.

Thanks for the reply! I think I'm just gonna go ahead and do it. Heck, it's only a couple extra bucks for the switching pots. :)

Thanks apl. I didn't even think about checking at Carvin!
