Marking my territory
I often use a drum machine (as I can't play drums) when I record. Sometimes, I plan out the length of the song in terms of bars and I lay the drum track down and start recording the music over the drum track. The singer comes along and we decide, for example, to shorten the song using the existing music that I have laid down but fade the music out. We do this because sometimes, the mood in the music was just right or the singer is really on form and we don't want to re-record and lose the mood.
Anyway, I then mix this down and fade out - before the end of the drum track. When I convert this to a WAV file and export it and play it - the song plays well and fades out, but the WAV file still "plays" to the end of the drum track if you see what I mean. So the actual song is, let's say, 3mins20secs long but the WAV files plays for 4mins15secs even though you can't hear anything because it was mixed down.
How do I get around this? Is there someway on the MR8 that I can delete the end of the drum track and shorten the actual file?
Thanks
Nick
