My kids and I did this a few years ago. My son 10 at the time played some e-drum/bass effects, daughter 14 years old on e-guitar and me. It started out as an exersize...a Bolero kind of thing. I dug it up a while back put a little polish on it and thought I'd put it up for some feed back. Have a listen if you can spare a few minutes. It moves a little slow at first so hang in there. If I had to put a style type to it, I guess you'd call it instrumental mood drama. That's what my daughter calls it.

Nice sounds, and interesting piece. It does start a bit slow, but the sounds are good. No help from me...but I dug it.

Just a little somethin' while foolin' 'round with the kids. Was teaching the girlie about chords and apreggios and the boy 'bout percussion vs. drums (they're not the same). A good persussionist should be able to read music, play the bells, hit the snare and make music...not just pound out the heart beat. Trying to round him out a bit.

Both had only been playing for a couple months at this point. The daughter played the repetative acoustic/electric part and the heavy rhythm part. Biggest issue was how heavy the Gibson was. Daddy...why can't I play the pretty blue Fender?

I like the atmospherics of it. It gets too loud at 1.38 - might need to compress it a little.
The bells are great.
The background distortion coming in after 3.00 is great.
It really could be an extended intro from Black Sabbath.
The piece also reminds me of Frippotronics - the stuff Robert Fripp & Brian Eno did together - No Pussyfooting & Evening Star.
It's a keeper.
Though keep working on it with them. Nothing big mind - just some more noodling.
 
Wow man, that'ssome cool-flowing material. It's even cooler since you had your kids playing with ya; pretty inspiring to me!
 
Thanks for takin' the time to listen. I'll try to clean it up a little more. While not a technical piece by any stretch, the moment just kinda happened.

How weird...the glitch at 1:35 or so wasn't there on the original...it only popped up on the MP3 version. I'll have to look into that. :confused: Other than a little smooshing and level control, I think I'll leave it alone.

i think the intro is a tad long but i like this a lot!!!!! this kind of stuff is right up my alley.

Nice atomsphere and feel here. Like the sounds, feels like something from a cool soundtrack. If anything, I think the intro could be a little shorter and the build at the end could be a little longer. Good piece though, enjoyed cranking this and the feel of it :)

Very dreamy, I think the distorted guitar could be bought forward in the mix slightly, and I loved the sound of the bell or chime in there!

It must be rewarding to have kids interested in music!!

Good stuff!......Pass some congrats as inspiration to the short people!
