This was a quick listen....on my PC headphones....

Sounds good to me. I would have loved to hear Rabbits drums, and hope someone can work those in!!!

Lemon....The retracked guitars sound really good. :)

Cincy, your vox sound great!!! You have a awesome voice! :)

Snake, your organ rawks!!!! Man, can I borrow it for something of my own?

Gorty, ya know what I am going to say.....and it isn't go to the SHED!!! :D

Your lead is awesome. :) :D

Great tune, and I am looking forward to hearing a mix with Rabbits drums...Pleasssse!!! :)

I am going to have a listen with my monitors...as if I am going to hear any different. I am still trying though.

On my good headphones run through the Lexi, it all sounds great!!!

Listening on monitors, it seems the guitars on the left need to brought up a bit. ??? Anyone know why it does this?

Hey lemon,

Nice job man. You have definitly put the time into this one ;)

Of course my biggest critique is my own vocals but other than that everyone's part sounds great, good work on the mix man...

Thanks a bunch True ! :D :D

Yes, I know.... I've been away for ages. Here's a rundown of recent events....

Got the seperate files of drum tracks from BentRabbit. They were good, really good! apart from one timing issue on the last verse and a smal hiccup earlier in the song.

After getting them to sit as best I could the rest of the music sounded all over the place because it had all been tracked to canned drums and Bent's playing was a lot more human sounding, so.....

I retracked the bass, the main picked guitar, the main lead guitar, the chorus rythm guitar and the acoustic guitar. Things were better but there were a couple of drum rolls in the last verse that weren't quite right. I spent several days with them under the microscope, trying to cut n paste parts in from earlier in the song but, with the drums spread over 8 tracks this turned out to be an impossible mission. :(

I now realise my lack of work with real drums over the years has become a real downfall in my game plan.

I then went back and tried to use samples from Bent's drums in drumagog to trigger a new drum pattern I programed in fruity loops, another full days work just to find I couldn't get the toms to trigger correctly

So the bottom line is, I had to scrap the real drums and go back to the canned ones, all be it a new pattern but it's not what I wanted. Bent, I'm sorry man I REALLY tried everything I know to get your drums in there....and failed totaly.

After that I had to walk away and leave it for a few days. I don't even wanna TRY to count the amount of times I've heard this now. I'm sick to death of it.

Here's what I think of my mix... my guitars are too thin, the guitar solo it too loud and too wide and the vocals I should have spent a lot more time on. I've just thrown it all together to grind out a result that I'm not really that happy with. I had big expectations and my lack of experience has shattered that vision.

I think I mentioned a few pages back about putting this up (for adoption?) for other people here to have a crack at mixing it, if anyone wants to they can. I just need somewhere to host it as I have no space. I'll include the canned drums as well as the real drums and maybe someone can show me where I went wrong and what could be done

Enough excuses, here it is.....

DECEPTION

Hey Lemon,

You have done a great job here!
I will not go into too much detail about the mix because overall you have done well!

One thing that I have to mention is that I reckon Snakes organ needs to be bought up in the mix with the volume, because when the solo comes in it seems as if it is coming in from nowhere!.......I think it would just give that section a little of the answer and call spice!

That's my 2 cents worth!

You have put a lot of work into this Lemon and I can't wait to get home and play it on my stereo!

Well done to everyone who contributed their parts including all who submitted work!
Thanx for letting me be part of this Lemon!

Groty R00 Boy... :)

Lemon, Cincy, Snake, Gorty.....I think this turned out really well. You've all added your talents with great results.

Lemon you've done a great mix on this also, pulling the parts together nicely.
Sounds like you've reached critical mass on the mixing now, so just give it a few weeks rest. Then maybe pick it up again once you've had a chance to let it play a bit on your speakers.

Enjoyed watching (listening) this grow into something great!

:D :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

Yeah, I went a hunting and realized, there were no post from you after that.
I thought I was the ditz of our gang!!!

Welcome brotha' to the world of twit-twat-tweeters!! :D

am still here ya know ;)

I took a break from this...... that last mix is really bad. I'm on the hunt for a new guitar, played an epiphone les paul custom in alpine white last week and nearly bought it...prolly will do. The guitar parts sound really weak in the mix and with an old Sunn Mustang strat copy and a behringer V-Amp pro there's not a lot I can do to fix that but it will get fixed. I'm just trying to clear my debt at the moment so I can float again.

Busy at work on the weedwhacker most of the time and I just wanna sleep when I get in after my dinner. Been getting involved with a youth club in town called street level, they have a rehersal room for young bands and I'm looking to expand on that and try to fit my studio into there space on the weekends...huge building with a few empty rooms, we'll see how that goes.

I'll get back to the tune at some point though....snake & gorty's parts are keepers

peace out

Alec

Hey Lemon, glad the worst news is that you are tired! Oooooo....I have seen one of those Ephi's and they ARE purty and sound purty too!! :D

Hope your studio goes well, and Kudos to ya for working with the Youth!!

Opinion: Epiphone Les Paul's are just Gibson Wanta Be's....buy the real deal.

I don't have £2200 laying about at the moment and if I did the last thing I'd waste it on is a guitar of that calibre for me a mediocre guitar player to use in my home studio from time to time.

I went in and played the epi and I liked the feel and tone of it, more than enough guitar for my humble needs.

But thanks for the input and managing to stay on topic ;)

To LemonTree: Just thought since you seem determined to have the best sound in your studio work that an inferior link (cheep guitar) would be unwanted. But I understand your situation........sorry I can't buy you one right now, but I am saving up for that pop screen you mentioned. LOL
