Sorry about the other two threads. This is the continuation of this piece. Just posting for opinions. The drums have been replaced according the general consensus.

Also a little more has been composed.

What do you think of this ditty? Please comment especially on the playing of the guitars. I feel that it's not tight enough and it's very sloppy in places.

The fret board scratches baffle me 'coz I can't play without sliding my finger and the noise is always there. So maybe I need a different tone on the guitar or does anyone have any ideas?

Sounds great bigbubba...

Lots of great guitar playing and harmonizing in the piece. Your picking technique's very nice too. I like all the different guitar tones you've blended together. The arrangement is super - lots of interesting things throughout. The playing is smooth - it flows nicely, from phrase to phrase. The drums are nice and punchy and intricate. What reverb settings are you using - they are nice sounding...is it amp or effects rack?

I've played this a bunch of times and the only thing I noticed in the mix was the snare? was maybe a little low at around 1:16. There were a couple of pops at 1:36 and 1:47... probably Soundclick upload thing.

The fretboard noises might be lessened with a moisturizer but that might affect your instrument and calouses. I have those on my cuts sometimes.

The playing is pretty tight, I don't think it's sloppy, but you can re-record later if you feel you need to.

Very cool.....

 :) :)

Cool piece. My only neg would be that I'm not fond of the superstack sound on the 2nd (?) lead.
The intro had a very Bond theme feel to it.

Playing seems fine to me...any additional noises seem to be part of the song.....don't bother me. Seems to be a bit too much low end on the guitars....you might roll it off, or use a multiband to compress the snot out of the really lows on just the guitars...rattles a little at times. That's not a performance issue, just seems like they are too big.

That's my only real nit...but overall, shaping up well.

Damn cool :D

Dig'n it. Kinda has a sound track feel to it. Orchestral rock. Nice work!

Aaaah yes, the halloween piece. :D Reminds me of a rock version of Danny Elfman, has a comical yet sinister playfulness to it. The halloween sound goes away, its mainly at the beginning and I wish there was more. At ''31-50, thats what I am talking about, the walking part has a delightful halloween feel.

The mix is fine, my ears are shot anyhoo for gigging all day. Very cool tune. :)

Hey bubba, was gone for the holidays so missed the first version of this.
Pretty sweet playing if you ask me ;)
Nice moods and tones throughout, a lot of changes and has a soundtrack feel. Has some drama to it too.
Overall, to my ears, sounds like the mix could use a bit more punch, everything sounds a bit distant or muddied. It might be that the low end is a bit more prominant than the high end... so Dogman's advice should help with the feel I'm getting.
Overall, good piece, enjoyed it :)

Also was out town myself so i missed out on the first. At :31 I'm loving that bouncey guitar. Bouncey guitar sounds a little boomy from here. Leads are great man, you do real well with arranging those. Thats something i'll never get a grip of which makes me always respect it all the more. I think you have some room in the high end if you wanted but it really does sound really good man. I think that piano line can come up for the softer part. Love the actual line just want to hear it a bit more, but im a keyboard junkie so ya know. Song sounds great man, always really enjoy your arrangments. Real nice mix of heavier guitars with the softer pads/synths going on.

Take care man

ido1957 - Hey hey there buddy. Thanks for listening and commenting. I appreciate the positive comments. :) The reverb and FX rack stuff will have to wait to be answered until I get home. The snare I kept lower 'coz I tend to make it U2 loud and then it makes everything else sound low and then one gets in a race. And the pops are probably me hitting extra notes on the piano roll by mistake. Will have to to find and remove those. For the fret noise, thought about the handcream but didn't wanna get the fretboard gooey with sweat and lotion after trying the same thing 10,000 times. :)

rayc - Hey bud, thank for listening and commenting. :) I appreciate it. As far as the superstack sound goes, I'll try to EQ it differently to see if it sounds different. I just wanted a tone that would be easier to differentiate from the main lead. And all leads are doubled. Including the spastic ones so in the stereo image in opposite channels I wanted a different.

Dogman - Thanks for listening and commenting. I appreciate your input. :) So everytime I listen to the piece after a break, I think the exact same thing... that the guitars are a little loud in the low end and maybe some air could be added. So will work on that in the next mix. :)

punkin - Thanks for listening and commenting man. I appreciate the nice comments. :)

DavidK - Hey dude, thanks for listening and commenting. I appreciate your input. :) And you've called it the halloween piece so many times that I'm looking for that connection. Still not finding it but trying to see what might be giving that impression. Nothing wrong with one interpreting something one way vs. another. Just listening to the piece to see. :) I guess it's the one falling note in that interval you mentioned that gives it that feel. :)

SnakeDog5050 - Hey dude, you've been gone for a while now. Thanks for listening and commenting. I appreciate your input. :) I agree with the muddied comment. I sometimes get that sound when I listen to it after a break. So I'll try to remove some of that boominess and put in some air. :)

gbav - Oh stop! You're embarrasing me. Especially since the "dark room" song is one sizzling piece of keyboard-line composition and the tune and all are really nice too. :) I frequently go back and listen to it. And I appreciate the nice comments. Thanks for listening and commenting. :)

Sounds cool. I get the vibe your going for here. Reminds me of mongrel warriors riding across the tundra tward the impending battle. Good playing

Now for the nits;) The guitar that is dropped down in the break section at 1:10 or so is a little too dropped down for me, unless you are planing to put something upfront into that passage. For some reason a distorted bass comes to mind. Don't ask me why

On the darker guitar parts perhaps a bit more air would be nice. You could keep the dark tone and add a hair of sizzle or depth. I could be way off base there but, if it where me I would dial it in just to see.

I'm listening at moderate volumes right now. I'll try turning it up later.

Cool stuff! :)

Hey dude, thanks for listening and commenting. :) I appreciate your input.

Ok, I agree about the break guitar volume part. I thought the same thing. Distorted bass? I might pass the current bass thru a distortion plugin or something but that's about the extent of my dist. bass availability.

Alright and your vote for more air on the guitar parts is definitely heard. Others have also said the same thing. So that will be the main thing getting fixed in the next mix if possible.

Thanks for listening. :)

I think the word is "impish". Halloween is fun as well as scary, I dont find this scary at all. The parts I pointed out remind me of Danny Elfman, definitely a halloween-fun composer.

I remember a previous mix of this. To me, the drums could do with more shine or sparkle. Your lead tones are great and I really like the melodies and composition overall
