Please help! When I open a stereo track in CEP2, it sounds wishy-washy/very trebley with some parts of the song loud and some quiet.

But when I select it to just play either the left or right channel it sounds fine.

Why is this?

Sounds like a phase issue, but without a detailed description of your set-up, it's impossible to be sure. What are you using and how is it all connected?

I'm using a very basic set-up. Home computer with the soundcard it came with. Audio output to a high quality hi-fi. I have changed the hi-fi but it's still the same. I have tried re-installing but it's still the same.

The thing is, it has all worked brilliantly for years then all of a sudden it has gone weird. For instance, I had to re-select it to show volume pans, even though I had never un-selected it.

that is weird...
even with a basic setup, CE shouldn't be playing channels out of phase.
are you using a cracked copy? those things can do strange things sometimes...

is this happening with ALL stereo files you open in CE? does it also happen when you record stereo tracks? is it happening in any other software?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

No, I am not using a cracked copy of the software.

It could be a phase issue (although I don't actually know what that means), as when I "open as..." a mono file it sounds fine. Windows Media Player sounds fine, but my "Copy-Controlled" Kelis album where it has its own player on the CD sounded bad too.

I haven't tried to record a stereo track.

Thanks for any help. I use this software every day as I'm a guitar teacher.
