Just another guy, really.
So, lately I have taken to bringing my littlest amp- a Fender Bullett 10R- to my too-big guitar group's rehersal/jams. Don't laugh- that closed-back little thing has a pretty good clean tone, is super light and small, and as we play in a very live room and most of the other guys play only acoustic, I find it has the volume I need, without getting overwhelming. Anyway, one of the more experienced guys saw me futzing with pointing it every which way, including straight up, and suggested I aim it twards the wall, which was about 10 feet away. Wow! The dispersion was much better than any other placement I tried, and the little bit of natural slap-back delay actually sweetened my sound.
