I have a 77 D-35L and an 85 D-45L-Custom. The D-35 is like Old Faithful with really even tone.
The D-45 was a custom job with scalloped/forward positioned braces. Top bellied slightly after a few years so I keep light strings on it and tune it to D or E-flat. It's a cannon with deep lows and high treble.
Always wanted an OM.
I was >< that close to ordering a custom lefty OM-45L from Martin done as a replica of the first production OM, with a tobacco sunburst finish and banjo tuners, ivoroid binding, snowflakes the entire works! back around 1991. Got married instead. Boy was that a mistake and a waste of good guitar funds.
If my ship ever comes in I'll have that OM someday.
