both the delta 1010 and layla seem like good similar cards.........the layla has adat out which i wont need anytime soon but could one day come in handy but the delta is $200 cheaper ($600 at guitar center) i think they should both be compatable with my comp i have an athlon gig processor, 30 meg hard drive and 256 RAM.......layla requires a specific chipset but i looked into it and mine works............also im debating whether to get cubase or logic platinum........doing mostly analog recording.......im new to this so your advice would be much appreciated........oh one more thing is i have a midiman audio buddy as a preamp ($100).........it has phantom power......is that sufficient for most recording or do i need something better? thanks!!!!!!
hi russ, I cant answer your question about the sound cards but I will give you some more info about
your midiman audio buddy. The midiman audio buddy does have phantom power like they say
but read carfully in the spec sheet when you buy a mic for it because that midiman audio buddy
only has 43 volts for phantom power and if you buy a mic make sure it supports phantom power at 43 volts...Also check out the M audio DMP2(which is in the same family as the midiman audio buddy)
and compair the differenc in the 2 so you will get a better Idea of the specification....hope thats helps
