I say Layla because that's what I have. The 24/96 has been discontinued for the new Layla 3G, though, so you might be able to find it cheap. I got my second Layla 24/96 cheap for that very reason.

The cheapest for the Layla3G is at www.studica.com

It's at ~$420 IIRC

You don't have to be a student either. SamAsh pricematched for me...give it a shot if you're interested.

FWIW I've heard the pre's in the 3G are decent but nothing to write homerec about!

I dont understand why the Layla 24/96 is more expensive then the 3G

what is the different between this two

the 3G is just the next generation of the layla model.

it's probably cheaper because they have found a way to make them cheaper (design etc.)

the 3G is cool because you get 2 universal preamps, they don't come with the layla 24/96. I think the 3G has new concerters too but that may not be true.

i am looking for a interface that have digital input midi input and at least 4 inputs
i dont need the 2 pres that the 3g has
and the only reason why i dont take the delta 1010lt its because i dont like the idea
of all the mess with the wires
what are you suggesting?
thanks

Echo did upgrade their converters in the 3G. The 3G also draws power from the PCI card whereas a power cord is needed for the 24/96. That's probably not a huge difference, but it's a difference.

Some have actually liked the sound quality of the older 24/96 better on other forums...go figure. Another positive of the older model is the expandability of getting a cardbus adapter to use the 24/96 interface with a laptop.

However, I have the 3G...no complaints so far.

Choose the Layla 3G. You can add a 2nd unit (card and breakout box) and
double the number of ins and outs. The 3G's technology is newer than the 24/96 or the 1010LT, which you should choose only if the idea of running ProTools M-Powered software appeals to you.

but the 3G is to expensive for me
i am open for suggestions the thing that i am looking in the sound card is
digital input midi input with at least 4 inputs
and i dont need pres
you have any suggestions for me?
