Latency

I've just installed a E-Mu 0404 PCI card in my pc.
Cubase tells me that the latency is about 50ms is this an acceptable value ?
 
I would consider that way too much. Some people seem to handle up to 20ms or so well but I prefer under 10ms. My favorite number for latency is 0, but that's impossible in the digital realm (which is why I prefer an analog monitoring setup). One millisecond is a close approximation to one foot of distance at the speed of sound. Try singing through a speaker 50 feet away.

I'll try lowering the latency and see what happens
