latency???

yellow!...ive been having problems with overdubbing. the first track (like drums) go down fine but when i try to add another track i have problems. the two tracks are not in sync. track two is about a half second behind. would this be because i have a cheezy soundblaster card?? and if so what card do u guys recomend that has at least one balanced stereo input.?

I've got a Gadgetlabs card that has a synchronization function - Gadgetlabs claim synchronization are common enough without such a function. Dunno. I've never had 'em with this card.
