dachay2tnr,

I looked for the place to check the latency settings, I presumed it was in Audio Options but I didn't see a slider like you described. What I did find, under the Advanced Tab is:

Playback and Recording:
Queue Buffera: 8
Buffer Size (Kb): 63
Scrub (ms): 100

and 3 places with check boxes:

Enabel Simultataneous Record/Playback (not checked)
Use Wave Out Position For Timing (checked)
Clip Audio Mix Upon Overflow (checked)

DMA:

Device: SB PCI 129 Playback
Size: 11008 bytes
Offset: 0 buffers

Is any of this pertinent and if I should change any of that, what values are appropriate????

aceteleman77 - If I recall, you are using PA7. Sorry, but I started with PA9, so I'm not really familiar with PA7. I assumed it had some way to set the latency, as the newer versions do.

If you have a manual (or online help) see if you can find something on latency. There may be a way to adjust it. You want to increase the latency.

If all else fails, you might try raising the setting for Queue Buffers if you can. If it doesn't help, just set it back to the original setting.

I looked in the book and it DID say something about increasing the buffer size so I guess I'll give that a try and see what happens.... There was no recommendations about values so I guess it's a hit and miss thing.... But I will give it a try and see what happens..... Thanks

In my experience, if you have a reasonably fast machine, there is no need for anymore than 2 playback buffers in Sonar 2.0.

Reducing this from your current setting of "8" will greatly reduce your latency.

Ciao,

Q.
