I just bought this $600 NZ soundcard (TerraTec EWX 24/96)thinking latency wouldnt be a prob... but when i plug my keyboard into the PC and using micrologic to sequence my music I get a LATENCY prob >.<

i want to record some music but the music that comes out of my pc is about a quarter of a second behind the music that comes out of my keyboard >.<

I cannot record anything with this prob...
i have tried a lot of settings but it still persists....maybe i need to do something with my BIOS settings? i have no idea how to do that .....
anyone help ???

T___T

I am not familiar with either your sound card or your software. However, latency is more than just a function of the sound card you have. It is also affected by the drivers available for the sound card, and your overall computer system - CPU, memory size, etc.

To get low latency you are most likely going to need to use WDM or ASIO drivers. It appears that there are WDM drivers available for this card, however, does your software support them? If not, does your software support ASIO? And, if so, are there ASIO drivers available for your sound card.

Also, there should be a mixing applet which controls the latency setting of your sound card. Try checking out your instruction manual, or just poking around in the applet. Your recording software might also have latency controls as well.

Lastly, what type of computer system are you running and what OS? This can also affect latency.

Thanks for your reply...

My computer specs...
Windows XP Home
512 Ram
2.8GHZ Processor....
No graphics card yet.... :(

I would think the program is compatible with the soundcard because it came with it when I bought my soundcard... -_-

It would also help if the website of the soundcard was actually in English too..... >.<

"Compatible" can have many different interpretations - particularly if you work in marketing. :D

Your system sounds like it is powerful enough to run with a fairly low latency setting (I'm assuming the processor is a P4).

So the question that remain are, is the software able to use either WDM or ASIO drivers? If so, is the software enabled to use them (this could be automatic)? Do you have the WDM (or ASIO) drivers for the sound card installed? Is there a mixing applet that came with the sound card? Do you see an area within the applet for setting latency? Are there a latency setting controls within the software?

The above is where I would start looking in order to resolve the problem.
