I remember this song from back a while. Is there a better snare sound in there now?

This really is a great song. I like the line about the lit cigerette in his one hand on the wheel.

Is there something on the vocal? I don;t know if I'm imagining it or not. All this talk of compression, no mastering etc...may have me hearing things, but I'm hearing some pretty sharp compression, kind of like the vocal ducks at the start of every line.

I hate the part with all the voices at the end, not becuase I hate it that much, but bacause I really dig the song up to there and then that happens. I heard someone say the liked it so I feel ok saying I don't, taste as always.

Great singing, band sounds killer.

I just saw the jpg <sniff sniff>. This is like when Lassie died.

Com'n.....lets drive Chris crazy.....and keep this on the front page for a couple of months!
It could be like our mascot.

And it is a great song.

"She could run...." sounds like a good descriptor for one of Chris' threads. These things run for months.
Just kidding. I've heard this one lots of times while perusing your site, and lyrically I'd have to say it's one of my favorites. Could use a little "rockification" though.
Just kidding again, I won't mangle any more of your tunes man. BTW I've been listening to MY version of Time To Leave all the damn time. Those vocals you sent me just blow me away. What with the "manual" compression and lack of autotune, (which you really DON'T need, unlike some of us..) Totally sweet. But anyway.
I really like car somngs. This is a good one, bro.

Very nice Chris.

Had about 4 spins on this one so far. At first blush...I really like the song and it sounds great as usual. This will defintely hit the keepers folder, so it will get a bunch more listens. Since I kind of work slow...if anything hits me in one of the listens I'll let you know.

Very good work as usual.

You suck :p

:D

Great song Chris. I've never heard this one..dunno how long it's been around.

You are one hell of a songwriter man.

lmao - I tried to hit the "delete" button for this thread, and for some reason, it doesn't work???

That was a cool bump, joro. I've gotten marginally better at recording, maybe...

ANYWAY...lol. This was a ton of fun, guys. Time for me to listen to some Guernica/Lt.Bob.

Night all ;)

There's a time limit on the delete button........so you can't get rid of it no matter what you do. :D
And I hereby vow to keep it bumped up on a permanent basis.

When you're fifty....this thread'll still be up and running........oh wait, that's next week isn't it? :D :p
Well, after you're dead and gone, Homerecer's will still be keeping this thread on the first page following a tradition they no longer understand the reasons for. :D

And reading from the book of Chris he proclaimed; " Old Yeller will return to us in a compressed form, auto-tuned (get it? Get It? auto-tuned, it's an auto and uh, you er ah......) and transporting us to our eternal reward.

It's the thread of a 1000 incarnations. :D

Well, since there was an actual sonic question, I should add that those drums are totally different. It's an acoustic kit, mic'd - 5 tracks. I haven't seen "Barometer" around here lately, but he's the one who donated 'em.

The version on my "Album" page was an electronic kit played by the wonderful and talented "erichenryus," which is what most of the clinic heard.

good DAY to you, sir... :D

well written song chris. playing is good, and the mix aint bad. But you aksed about the vocals. It sounds like your voice has something thats meant to be transparent but isnt, over it. I dont know if if its autotune, reverb, or what. But it sounds like your singing thru something other than a mic and preamp.
Ken

And the song....goes on forever....
and I'm not gonna let 'em catch me no,
not gonna let 'em catch the .....
