Okay. Here's one more for the pile.

The entire master will have a notch between 400-500hz to ameliorate the boxiness. Any other mixing suggestions are welcome and encouraged.

This is a song about schadenfreude and a man spurned. It's called Better than You.

Just wanted to make sure you were paying attention. ;)

:D

I have the speakers running into the gym right now, for customers, so I can't listen. But I will later. This is going to be one hell of an album, baby.

23 tracks that except for one are written to flow into the next. "Mastering" this has been six and a half bitches and a stick in the eye.

Yeah, about a year of my life per album. :(

We cut it down to fit on a disc, dropping four songs and a whole mess of foley. It's at 1:18:something now.

I listened last night but had a computer problem before I could comment.
Listened again.
Very cool song.
Guitars seems to have little bottom end. The bass seems to have more underneath "...better than you..." but when the guitars are busier it slips away.
Vocal levels sound fine in headphones but I also like vocals a little low.
Kick drum, in some parts, seems to have a pressured feeling in both ears - a little like when stereo are out of phase. It may just be headphones.

.....Anybody?

I'll try and listen when I'm home from work tonight SC. Been meaning to on a few of your recent tunes, but (for boring reasons) having them as an attachment, rather than streaming has prevented me :)

I really like the song. It has a real cool feel. Like the singing. Like the drumming - tasteful playing.

Is there a split second of the song chopped off at the beginning? It starts abruptly. Maybe that was intentional.

I could go for a little stronger low end. Sounded just a bit lite to me.

Guitars sounded OK. But they're a little bit washed out. I'd like a little more grit and presence in them.

I like the vocal sound. Slightly thin and bordering on distorted. Worked well IMO.

I might nudge the overheads down a bit.

Yeah, I heard the song coming in quite abruptly too - is this because of the songs flowing into each other, and so not really an issue in the context of the album?

I wondered whether the vocals could come up a nudge, even for an 'in the mix' sound. I just listened to your other two recent songs, and I'm guessing it's a conscious decision, so that's cool. You'd probably have to go back and do this for all your other album tunes if you raised it for one though...

You already covered the hint of boxiness. Nothing else struck me as needing addressing.

I really enjoyed all three songs Supercreep, and I hope you post up on here when the album's done so I can get a copy

I think it sounds awesome. The first thing that came to my mind was that people will probably say the vocals need to come up, and I can understand why. But, to be honest, this is exactly the level I like vocals at. They're there but they're part of the mix. Personally, I love it right where they are and I think this sounds incredible.

Yes. I will make sure anybody here who wants a copy gets one.

Good tune, was it intentional at the beginning you couldn't really hear there was a vocal? You're right about the box sound in the drums. Everything else sounded OK as far as I could tell except those drums (snare??).

That would be my only comment, really cool song I like the vocal effect as well.

Boxiness ain't the problem. But some of the highs are hyped painfully. You can hear what I'm talking about on some of the notes that the vocal and the guitar coincide on in the verses, and more generally in the choruses. It needs EQ notching or some kind of tone shaper plugin that I don't have to make it sound rounder and less abrasive.

It's a great tune. Makes me wish I was drunk on the south coast of England.

The mix has been addressed already and I don't have anything to add....plus you're finished with that phase of this project anyway.

So, I'll comment on the song. I love this tune man! It's such a great solid rock groove. It dosen't sound like Aerosmith but the groove/riff reminds me of what I love about that band. I see what RAMI is talking about on the vocal level...being lower in the mix like that makes it part of the riff, instead of compeating for space with and walking all over the riff. IMO this is really tasty good kick ass rock and roll.
I thoroughly enjoyed the listen !

The 'better than you' vocals are really hard to hear with the guitar playing the same notes. I'd bring all the vocals up in volume. Bring the bass up too. It seems to be mixed from the drummer's POV - very wide drums and the OH cymbals are a little loud.

Thanks for the listen, I appreciate it. The vocal is going through an AC30 head sim, fairly cranked, and is supposed to sound abrasive. I can play around with it some more, but it is doing more or less what I wanted it to do. I don't think it sounds unpleasant.
