Laptop's

I'm currently doing some on location recording, so I was thinking I may want to look into getting a laptop. I'm currently using a delta 1010 and would like to continue using it. I dont know anything about laptop recording, or what I should be aware of. Also, I saw a band where the drummer was apparently going through a laptop and used synthesized sounds coming through the PA - how might this have worked?

Please inform me on what I might need or why this is a horrible idea. Thanks.

i use my laptop for all recording now... via firewire.

i have a tascam fw-1884 for in the studio recording (mixing really), and an edirol fa-01 for 'in the field' recording.

it works well.

Why does this read like a spamvertisement? HP, I know Apple is cleaning your clock, but are you really getting that desperate to move a few units?
