hi all,
I'm going to buy a laptop PC with steinberg's V-Stack software, for using it as a live virtual synthesizer.

For me is very important the latency of the audio card, because i've to play music live, so the latency can't be over 20 ms

Anyone have experience with usb cards? (I like tha new audiophile usb)

there are other professional solutions? (I don't need more than one stereo output)

what do you think about the new echo Indigo card?

thanks

The Indigo is a consumer card, not meant for live performance. They should have done something similar to the VX Pocket, but oh well.

Anyway, I myself am interested in the Audiophile USB, and also the Aardvark USB3.

The MBox is cool, but the ASIO is still in its infancy, and at its price you're paying for the PTLE software too. (Nice pre's though)

Hey Stealthtech I was wondering are the regular hammerfall stuff and the Multiface have the same quality and what not? I am not very familiar with them, i would be interested. Thanks.

I've used a Tascam US-428 with as little as 22ms latency. But that is as low as I could get it. It was enough to play "live" (while recording) with, but still there. That was with the built in ASIO driver.

Take care,
Chris

Ok, Thanks all;-)

22 ms with the ez bus is a good latency...I think that it's noticeable, but you can play Vst-instruments without problems..
just one thing: the latency depends on the number of tracks/outputs, so do you think that with a card like the audiophile (only a stereo output) can I get even little delays??

I didn't know they had a Audiophile with usb now. If its as good as the PCI card there is unoticable latency. Its an excellent card.

Same quality as in comparing one of there cards to another one of their cards ??
Not real sure...you would need to look at the specs at their website. But I doubt there is much difference. Their gear is top of the line with 0 latency, but its costly. Rme multi with PCI card runs about $850
I was going to get one until Jake-Owa turned me on to the Lynx22:D
