I am wanting a pro sound card to work with my laptop so I can do voioceovers. Someone told me thne echo indigo soundcard was a good one. I seen a picture of it and it looks like it goes in the same place where my wi fi thing that connect me to my network. Is that right? If so does it affect me getting on the internet or when I put it in can I not be on the internet?

Also does that soundcard take the place of the regular one I have now?

There are several firewire and USB soundcards that have built in microphone preamplifiers, from PreSonus, M-Audio, and TASCAM that would work with a laptop for voiceovers.

The Indigo does occupy the same type of slot - PCMCIA. You're laptop may have more than one slot. If so, you can use both simultaneously (unless the connections to the ethernet cable and the audio cables are physically in each other's way, and you just can plug everything in at the same time).

The soundcard you have is (almost certainly) built into the laptop - there's no need to remove it, and you'll have the option of ignoring it (and routing everything through the indigo) or continuing to use it for system sounds, and only using the Indigo with recording software.

Of course, I wouldn't discount apl's suggestions. Going that route would avoid the simultaneous use issue entirely. My comment about whether you continue to use the old soundcard applies either way.
