I got a new Compaq Presario 1510US laptop the other day loaded with stuff but the sound card is already ticking me off. It only has a mic input and it sounded alright for a little while but I think I fried it already cus now when I record it sounds like there is a flanger on it. I have a SoundBlaster 16 PCI sound card from my old deskto which was great cus it had a line input and all that stuff. Does anyone know if there is anyway I could connect the soundcard to the laptop or if I should just return the laptop. Any help is appreciated.

what kind of sound card is in the computer?? On my toshiba, there is a yahaha sound card. i uninstalled and found there was also intel integrarted sound as well. Maybe that will work for you.
What i found was that you can't expect to get a kickass sound card that comes stock in a lap top (with a few exceptions). That is why i bought a USSB external sound card. I have had no problems with it. you may want to go firewire though.

Yeah .... but it aint cheap .... Magma .
You would be better off going Firewire with one of these .

I had the same problem with my Creative SB Live card a long time ago. But now it's stopped doing that problem for some reason. What I found out it was doing was adding a chorus effect to anything played through. Here's what I did:
In the taskbar I have a green thing with a speaker on it that Creative calls AudioHQ (it's in the control panel too I think)
This opened up a new window where I clicked on EAX control panel.
In this window I noticed Chorus was turned up so I turned it down and it fixed it. I don't know why or how it turned up. It bugged me too when I heard it do that. Hope this can help you.
