I was just wondering who else has turned to the world of doing all your recording on a laptop. I now do 100% of my personal recording on my laptop, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Of course, I still do my real studio work in studios where I use what they have. But as for myself I love the convienence and power of laptop recording.
My setup:
Toshiba Satellite P25-S520 P4 3ghz WinXP
Western Digital external usb2.0 200gb 7200rpm hd (with a cool clear case with pink and blue lights
)
MOTU 828MKII on firewire
Sonar 3 Producer for my main sequencing and multi-tracking
I have a cool Studio-2-Go case from Gator that I put my laptop, hd, MOTU, JV1010, and a pre in and can take it anywhere with me. So far, I've gotten 30 tracks of audio running very smooth, along with ample dx plugins and the Lexicon pantheon reverb that I really like. I just havent worked on a song with more than that yet.
