I tried this thinking it wouldn't work or sound very good but I was wrong.
I plugged an old lapsteel directly into an Aark24 and tracked it in Cakewalk9. No pre-amp. And, this old Kalamazoo student model made in the late 40's has the jack cord attached and an old, right-angle 1/4" jack on the end. It just looks unreliable and noisy.
But no. It's very quiet (to my ears), sounds very sweet, and results in a useable-strength signal. Did I just get lucky or does tracking like this usually go well?
I have yet to post anything to the MP3 clinic because I'm working on cover tunes right now. After xmas I'll slap something together that I can post.
