Lace pickups in 84?

I think they just came out at that time. They were noiseless single coils. Nobody at the time knew how they worked and I wasn't that interested in them, so I can't tell you much more. I remember people saying that they were quiet, but didn't sound as good as the normal pickups. I was not a fan of single coils at the time, so I don't know.
 
I have a 94 strat with them on. Personally, I like them. They are very clean and also very colorless. Clapton uses them. Go play something with them on, that's the only way you will be able to tell if you like them.
