I just finished a track for a band called Burns Out Bright that will be appearing on a national sampler cd which is a split disc between three labels: Deep Elm, Eyeball, and another which im not sure of the name. The mix is what I would consider done and the band is pretty thrilled about it, but I just wanted to throw it up here to see if anyone had anything to comment on that was significantly out of place.

Heres the link....

And here is a list of equipment that was used because I'm sure someone is as interested as I always am with a given track.

Guitars:
Peavey 5150 w/BBE 462 into Rivera cab. Mic'd with Behringer B1 (Fernandez Elec.)
Mesa Dual Rec w/BBE 462 into Mesa cab. Mic'd with Behringer B1 (Gibby LP II)
Clean electric was cut with the LP through my POD on the layered setting, 0 drive.
Acoustics were cut with an Ibanez acoustic and D'Addario strings with Behringer B1.

Bass:
Ampeg SVT-3 Pro, DI out (American Jazz Bass)

Drums:
Custom DW Kit with Remo Heads and Zildjian Cymbals.
Kick - AKG D112
Snare - SM57
Toms - (Rack toms) - Radio Shack uniderectional dynamics (Floor tom) - SM57
Overheads - Behringer B1s in XY roughly 3 feet over crash cymbals.

Vocals:
Marshall v67

All of the parts were recorded into my Aardvark Q10 via Nuendo with no external processing during tracking.

vocal seems low to me. It's okay for part of the 2nd verse, but when more guits get going, it needs to be enveloped up in my opinion. That's on a flate EQ - it may be more buried when people listen to it like normal people listen to music, lol. The rest is purely taste stuff. I like what you did with the guitars personally.

yeah, ive been battling the whole vocal thing throughout the whole mix process. im kinda thinking its more of an EQ ordeal than volume. maybe enveloping would do it but im almost thinking that the vocals are kinda of lacking in the mids and might need to be bossted somewhere in the 1-3k region just a touch. will try some things maybe and post an updated mix soon.
