LA AUDIO CX2 as a first COMPRESSOR?

Anyone used one of these? I'm looking to spend as little cash as possible and I'm just wondering as this seems to be in the same price range (second hand) if it is as bad as the Behringer gear.

I'll be using it to tame vocals and bass on the way in. Any thoughts?

Larry Crane (Tape Op, Jackpot! Studios) has an LA Audio compressor, so in my book it's probably better than Behringer.
