I use a SB Audigy soundcard for recording and I just recently downloaded the kX Project driver to replace the standard driver. Everything works fine, only thing is that now my version of Cubase SX comes up with an error at startup saying "Error Cubase.log". Anyone know how I can fix this problem? If not, can someone please tell me what exactly does the kX driver do to enhance the sound of your soundcard? Thanks!

I don't use SB, but from everything I have read the KX driver drastically improves your cards performance in the latency department which is extremely important in digital recording.

Nice advice! Now does anyone know why the driver crashes my version of Cubase SX and Nuendo??? My Audigy driver was fine; but this one..... man; it comes up with errors back to back, it then it crashes the program and my computer! Help!!!!! LOL

Okay, since I got you into trouble with my crappy advice I did a little searching for ya and this is what I found out.

I was right that the kx driver drastically reduces latency for SB Audigy cards. What I didn't know was that a crapload of people couldn't get their record to function when it is installed, and for others they simply couldn't use it period.

The general concensus is to use the DirectX ASIO which should give you a latency of around 70 ms. Not great I know, but better than the alternatives.

Sorry about heading you in the wrong direction. I did hear that it was the "least latency" driver out there for your card, but I didn't hear the other stuff.

I've been using KX with my SB Live for a long time and it's the perfect solution for audio recording and midi.

It should be simple to install it if you follow the instructions.
There are few library files (dll) you should copy into the windowssystem directory , and after installing you should make a little modification in the DSP section of the driver software.

I use it with latency that can get down to 3ms !

If Cubase crashes try to re-install it. If you use any other multimedia cards as a DVD Decoder or TV card or having the SB sharing IRQ with another card this is also can cause problems.

After installing and making the modifications in the DSP you should select "kx asio" as your audio driver in the Cubase .

Here is what you should modify:

KXdrivers are excellent, you can load soundfonts, and use internal or customized effects and I guess much more I don't even know all of its features... Highly recommended !!

From what I read at Cubase.net, there is a difference between the functionality of the SB Live! and the SB Audigy with this particular driver. It seemed the Audigy users were not able to make it work.

But like I said, I don't use the card so I am not in the know. I hope gilwe's suggestion works out for ya!

Good luck and let us know what happens. :)

Have no idea how well they work with Audigy,
you can always ask on the KX drivers dedicated forum

(same link as above)

Got it working yawl. I just re-installed it like my man gilwe said. My only problem with the kX is now Window's CD Player doesn't let out any sound. I can see the CD is playing because the numbers are moving, but there is no sound..... whats up wit this you guys? Peace, and thanks for the help everybody.
