I use a SB Audigy soundcard for recording and I just recently downloaded the kX Project driver to replace the standard driver. Everything works fine, only thing is that now my version of Cubase SX comes up with an error at startup saying "Error Cubase.log". Anyone know how I can fix this problem? If not, can someone please tell me what exactly does the kX driver do to enhance the sound of your soundcard? Thanks!

Well, to cut a long story short, the Kx Driver does not 'enhance' the sound of the soundcard. It just makes it much more flexible, customisable, and unlocks the power of DSP in the EMU processor at the heart of the SB Live! or Audigy. Creative locked away a lot of features.

ASIO implementation also lowers latency to humane levels for easier recording. I find no difference in sound quality between the two driver sets, but Kx is far superior in terms of routing, DSP and ability to do pretty much what you want with the card (of course limited by the number of connectors you can access).

Thanks man; but does anyone know why it crashes Cubase SX and Nuendo????

No clue, don't use Nuendo or Cubase.

Maybe someone else would help...

We were just talking about this in the cubase forum. I searched in Cubase.net's archives and appearently the KX driver does not work well with the Soundblaster Audigy card. The few who seemed to get it to work on their system without crashing couldn't record with it and had other strange audio problems not there before the driver was installed.

The general concensus over there was to stick with the DirectX ASIO which blew, but was better than the KX in stability.

I don't use the card myself but I just read about 20 posts in those archives on the matter and they all seemed to say the same thing.
