Hello good people, I'm Viorel and just managed to buy a non functional Kurzweil PC88. Measured the voltages and seem fine, however, upon start I end up with the line of blocks, all lights clip once and that's it. I saw on you tube a fix for something similar but it was not the same as the cold soldering of the big capacitor was the cause there but on mine i discovered something else and that is, the Hi firmware chip has one broken contact. I can probably find two chips (for Hi and Low) AM27C040 but i cannot find anywhere the ROM firmware files to burn. The writing on the chip is
PC-88 ENG HI
V 1.02 8EE6
1998 YCA
Is there anyone here having an of those ROM files available ? I will try and email to Kurzweil as well but I doubt I'll get anything from them.
