Well, I saw a previous thread about the rp5's and the 8.2's, but it was , inconclusive, so these two are more similar, so what about it. I really don't want to consider anything else unless these two are stupid considerations. I've heard the RP6's, but the only thing I can say for them is that they are more flat than the Tapco's next to them.

:D Yo G-F

Suggest you go for monitors with 8" woofers. I use the KRK passives with 8" woofers and they woof better than most of the smaller woofers.

You can pick out the brand you dig the most but go for the larger woofs.

Green Hornet :D

I have Wharfedale 8.2as that work fine for me. I haven't had any trouble with translation yet, and I can hear what's going on in the mix pretty well. I haven't used the KRKs though.

The room can make a big difference. I have to tilt my head forward a little when checking the bass, but that's mostly a room issue.

i've read that having 8in's for nearfields is silly considering you're right in front of them, anyone got input on this?

im with kryptik... i like my wharfes
(but i havent heard the krk rp6 (especially in my studio))...

so .. this probably doesn't help too much ....

IMHO, i imagine they're pretty similiar... you see all these threads of ".. is this better than that" ....

most of the time, it comes down to price range .... most monitors in this range have small peaks and drops.. here and there,... the difference is really personal.. you might like the sound of this or that better, but its because you personally like it better, not because it is better...

anyway either one will be better than mixing on your headphones or your computer speakers..

(this pro0bably didnt help either)

i don't think its silly, but other than getting some lower notes, it increases even more work for the driver/woofer...now its pumping everything up to 2-3Khz....and a larger cone will have less ability in the higher mid/high freq range. thats physics, a 15" cone can't respond high freqs as well as a 1".

tweeters small= hi freq= small cone= fast response
mids= mid freq
Woofer= lower mid= low

i think 8" would be 5-6ft, not the 1meter/3ft range. MidField. I loved some RP8 but they blew air in my face (front ports)

Term called "Throw"...air displacement and crap in speakerland.
8" would be a common Mid-Field. I don't think the world would quiet spinning if you used an 8"...but your setup probably isn't "optimized".

but 4-6" probably most common at 3ft.

yeah thats what i thought cool, how do the wharfies and rp6's go with a sub anyone got that setup?
