I'm guessing it should work just like any other midi keyboard. It does look a little cheap though, but who knows. I've never seen one in person 
I was actually looking at the nanopad to work out some rough drum ideas before recording, but then I figured that my keyboard works fine for this already.
It's all up to you though. If you can afford more, I would definitely go for something different.

I just bought one, but I haven't really used it much. My idea was that I'd use it with my laptop in bed or something
Though its velocity sensitive, the keys feel a lot like a computer keyboard and I can't imagine trying to actually play it like a piano. But for simple basslines or melodies, it might work alright.

I was considering a Nanokey or a Nanopad to lay down synth drum tracks, but in the end I wound up going with an M-Audio KeyRig 49, and I'm pretty happy I did.
