Help Me! I am trying to record someone who has brought in a Poly800. His sounds are all messed up. Is there a way to do a factory reset on the unit. If so how. I need to get him back to a seafe starting point.
It's old technology. Turn it upside down and check the batteries. It takes 6 (or is it 4?) flashlight-size batteries, which it needs to keep its sounds and memories fresh. Make sure the batteries are all fresh. There is a reset but I can't recall how it works. Check the roland site or search Poly800. The synth still has a lot of active users.
I have one. Try http://www.kidnepro.com
I have the factory tape, but I'm not sure it would copy well. If the batteries go dead or are removed, and it's not plugged into the power supply, the files are gone.
I also have a Korg Poly800 unit. It's the mk 2 version and yet, I have that same problem with my old unit. It sounds like an FM synthesis unit on a Gameboy now! It used to sound so cool.
I think that the battery idea is probably the best explanation for whats happened.
