Anyone know where I can order one other than e-bay?

Hix,

Are you able to connect your M1 to your PC midi-wise? I think I have the factory presets on what was called a Korg M1 powerdisk (it's a floppy) which I can try and copy if it's any help. I do have the ROM card, but it's staying on my side of the world........sorry.

Actually I have the MI-R and I've never connected to PC.

I've had the M1-R since 1989 and sometime in 2000 the battery ran out. One of the design flaws of the M1/M1-R, or is it just planned oblsolecense, is that when the battery runs out after ten years all the factory presets are lost and you're left with a worthless black box unless you have the ROM card to reprogram when you change the battery.

Hang on to your card. The M1 sounds are great. I think in another six years when I have to change the battery again those ROM cards will be very, very rare.

Last year I bought an M1R. The owner had taken the battery out to protect it from leaking if it went bad. It was in his closet for 7 years. I searched the web, found the factory sysex files. I put in a new CR-2032 battery. Loaded the sysex with MIDIOX (www.midiox.com) from my computer via midi cables. All is fine.

Peace..

I didn't know you could do that. Thought I needed the ROM card. So all I have to do is install a midi card in my computer, download the files than load them to the M1R via midi cable?

Hixmix,

"So all I have to do is install a midi card in my computer, download the files than load them to the M1R via midi cable?"

Yes.. Most computers have a sound card which has a joystick port. All you need is a midi interface cable that plugs into it. The other end has 2 cables -Midi IN and Midi Out. They are all over Ebay for $10-15.

"Now I'll just have to figure out to download the files to my computer and get them into the my M1R."

Just download the files, as in the link brzilian posted or find them on other sites for free by doing a search. Download MIDIOX or some other freeware sysex program or use a sequencer to load the files and send them to the M1R.

If you need more help...Mail me: z2xz2x@yahoo.com

Peace...Ron
