Hi guitar people,
I just order a fancy new solid bodied electric
violin, and I am thinking of getting a Korg
AX100G. Anyone have one?

If you are so inclined, check out my fiddle
at http://www.woodviolins.com Mark Wood is a good friend
of mine, and the worlds only heavy metal
double-necked violinist. We play to gether in a band
called the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, so you might
get a kick out of Marks Bad_ass fiddles. Thanx,
Dave

Mark Wood rocks! I still listen to his "Voodoo Violence" album. Next time you talk to him, please tell him to release another instrumental rock album!

As far as the AX100G, I do know that it has the same sounds as the AX1000G, which I didn't like. Very cold and digital. Nothing about it jumped out at me. I ended up getting the Digitech RP2000, which was much warmer and has some really cool effects. They make a mini version of it (just like the AX100G is a mini version of the AX1000G) called the RP200. Check it out and I think you'll be impressed.

Good luck with the electric violin playing!

Ryan

Hey Ryan,
Yeah, Voodoo Violence is cool! Actually, Mark just
sent it to me last week. He is making another
CD too.

Thanx for the advice, I will check out the digitech
boxes. I live in Cleveland, supposed Rock capitol
of the world, and the Two Music stores here Suck,
so it is great to get advice from folks like you.
Cheers, David

I just picked up "Beethoven's Last Night" a week or so ago.
Good Stuff!!
I've been thinking about picking up an elec.violin for my daughter and also wondered if an effects processor would be compatible with the instrument.

Snowdog,
the effects processor should work exactly the
same with an electric violin as it does with a guitar.

I havent heard the Beethovens Last Night CD !
I played on the road with the TSO the last two
tours, and we did a few selections from that
CD. There is going to be (hopefully) a
Beethovens Last Night Tour in late March,
so keep a lookout. I am hoping my fiddle will
be ready by then, that would be a lot cooler than
playing my normal violin!

Check out Marks fiddles for your daughter. He
keeps the prices low and puts on a nice pickup.
I bought a standard "stingray" violin, but
if I like it I will be brave and go for
one of the ultra-cool "Vipers", if I can
swallow the no chinrest thing (And I gotta take
of a bunch of weight to get that strap around
my pudgy frame). Cheers, David
