Hi. I searched the forums, but if I missed this topic being resolved somewhere else, please refer me to it. Okay, I am using Cubase LE 1.0.10 for recording songs. I actually had this exact same problem on my old laptop, never got it resolved, and bought this new desktop only to experience it here as well. I am using Windows XP Home Edition and a Firebox as my audio interface. I am currently using a microKorg as my MIDI controller and with this setup I am trying to use Kontakt as a virtual instrument. However, when I record (only while recording) any given Kontakt patch (what are the Kontakt instruments actually called?) Cubase will freeze, emitting a horrible sustained buzzing noise (I guess what ever sound the instrument was playing when Cubase froze) until I kill Cubase. I am at a lose. I have researched the matter and never have been able to fix it. I have heard both that the firebox should and should not me emulated, so I don't know which is correct. Also, I disabled multi-processing in both Kontakt and Cubase, as I read that could cause problems, but my problem persists. I would be grateful for any help. I just need to get the songs written.

I donot know how you have connected everything and your settings.

But it sounds like that you have created a loop when using direct monitoring.

So the sound recorded is going back to your audio inface for monitoring and than is recorded again in Cubase together with the original. this builds than up to a terrible noise.

Maybe you have direct monitoring on in cubase and also on, on the audio interface.

I had a similair problem with my audio interface and by switching direct monitoring on the interface off, it went away.

Maybe this helps

Cheers

What is the spec of your PC? Does the same thing happen in stand alone mode?

I normally get this buzzing when my CPU is overloaded.
