boom box recordings
I've been using a one spot. But I get some noise using it with a dd-20 and some other boss pedals.

I know the voodoo labs pedal power is pretty good. But it's a little more than i would like to pay.

Anyone know of any others that work well? Like the jim dunlop brick?

I'm fishin here.

thanks, Garrett

...nice to see someone else posting doubles than me...:D

So much different pedals, I use batteries,, Heard or read somewhere batteries induce less noise...

Yup, batteries will always be the quietest, because wall warts do a really crappy job of filtering out the 60 cycle hum when converting from AC to DC. Batteries never had 60 cycle hum to begin with, so they don't have to filter it out.

Ok, I have a onespot. And it sucks. Batteries will cost you more in the long run.

There has to be a decent pS like the voodoo labs box for less.

I used one of those daisy chain thingies for a while and it was the noisest piece of shit ever.

Now I use the earlier iteration of the Dunlop Brick, called the Juice Box.
It's been great for me, and super quiet.

it is not too bad plugged into a power conditoner, without the power conditoner it is noisy as hell however I have recently got the Boss GT8 effects processor, so I have pretty much retired my pedal board.

I bought one to use for gigging at bars to replace my power strip and crew of wall warts for about 6 or 7 pedals. :D
The noise was so bad at a couple of places that I had to resort to battery power for the gigs. Occasionally it was tolerable, I think it just depended on the venue's power. It was definitely way worse than the individual power supplies.
It may be okay for some situations, just don't depend on it to be quiet!

maybe a bad one?

I've been using a 1-spot for about 4 years now and I've never had any noise issues at all with it. This was all live gigging so maybe it's too noisy for recording?
But for live use I've never noticed any noise problems caused by it.

that is basically why i decided to go with an effects processor because you dont have to deal with trying to power a dozen individual effects everything is in one nice neat little package not to mention I can do so much more with the processor than I ever could with a board full of pedals plus it is quiet when it is supposed to be.:D

I suppose it could have been a bad one, maybe I shouldn't have been bashing them all these years. :D

Actually mine was not a "One Spot" it was the Godlyke Powerall or something like that. It was not noisy at home, not noticably anyway, it was just really noisy at some gigs. I thought maybe it was just more sensitive to power issues.

I have read from other users of the dd-20 having noise issues with normal wall wart adapters. It isn't an almost unheard noise. It's more of a sine wave signal noise that occurs on idle guitar play.

I love the pedal but, If I can't cure this problem, I'm going to have to get an analog delay and a dd-3.

I've been using 2 of the 1-spots with out any problems whatsoever.
I suspect if your on an unconditioned line you could get some garbage
but I had no problems even on unconditioned lines. In the studio I run
every thing through APC SMARTUPS which seem to be excellent at keeping
things from humming.

I have a pair of the 1Spots and use them all the time for recording. Very little noise.

I should add that i did modifications to almost all of my pedals, i.e. Boss, Danelectro, MXR and upgraded the components. At the end of the day I had very little noise using the 1Spots for power.

And let's keep in mind that for example Lt.Bob might have fever noise issues since he isn't playing High-gain Metal... I mean, clean sounds tend to have less noise issues than heavily distorted sounds.

If you're about to get a powersource to Metal, you might wanna try it out in a High-gain-chorus-echo-supersolo-lead-phaser enviroment.:D
