It's a theme!

This is a re-mix of a tune I did a few months ago. I re-did some of the vocals a bit and played with the drum sound a bit.

A pretty straight-ahead, simple rock riff. Sorry, it has nothing to do with Halloween. :(

BROKEN BORDERS

Listening as I type

nice riff...catchy.

good BGVs on teh chorus thingy.

like the sound of the ride...bell sounds sweet.

a tad, and just a tad, oddness on the kick. not sure if it's too hot or what. it's got a nice thump to it though. just turned the volume up, and it's definitely a little hot for me.

wow, swing time change! very nice...allman brother-ish (Woman Across the River -esque)

great Solo

vocal break down after solo - very well done...

I could use a little more Hi end, let those hats cut through just a tad more...

tone sounds great on guitars.

Bass sounds pretty good, maybe a tad hotter on bass and lower on kick might help.

good tune RAMI...

Thanx alot Cholo....I was thinking the kik might be louder than I remembered it being in previous mixes, but I didn't do anything to turn it up, so I wasn't 100% sure. I had noticed, when listening through phones, that the bass drum beater was bouncing off the skin a little on every hit. So I simply gated it a bit....seems to have brought up the volume. I'm sure it's something I over-looked, probably had the gain up 1db without noticing or something. I'll definitely bring it down, maybe that will help the bass guitar come through a bit.

Thanx alot, man.

sounds really good to me, cool riffage! I wish I could get my drums to sound nice like that.

It's definitely a kick ass tune! I gotta burn it to disc and drive my car.

Great choon!!

I agree on the kick being a bit too hot and get the hi end to cut through a bit better on the hats.

Love the performance and arrangement.. great song!
but definately pull back the kick..

A rhythm section as tight as a fish's bum!
You are certainly going through another fecund period at the moment.
I like the drum as they are - the cymbals - in headphones give a nicely spacey space - the feeling of sitting at the kit.
The tempo/rhythm change works a treat.
I'm at the phasey part now - I felt like reaching for a spliff or something similar.
A very classic rock riff.
This package is tighter than a scrotum in a cold shower!

Thak you for that, Aidan....Yes, the kik being too loud is pretty obvious to me now. I must have just not paid attention to it at the time. Thanx for the listen and comments.

Hehe....No wonder you write great lyrics. You have quite an interesting take on the Queen's language......(for a foreigner...;) )

You just gave me my new signature. :D

I agree with everyone on the kick comments. It's a little loud and bumpy. I don't agree about it needing more high end. I think it sounds great the way it is. It sounds full and rich. The hats and cymbals come through just fine to me. Snare sounds great. My only drum nit, and maybe I'm just retarded, but I don't think I'm hearing the tone of your floor tom...or what I'm thinking is your floor tom. I'm hearing the rack tom fine, but all I hear is the attack on the floor, and not the shell. I usually listen to your songs 4 or 5 times to really listen to your drumming and I try to pick out what you're doing. Maybe I'm just not hearing it clearly or maybe it's getting masked by something else. Guitars and bass sound awesome as usual. Vocals and backing vox too. The arrangement is fantastic and flows well.

The end of the phasey/flangey breakdown is kind of abrupt when it goes back to "normal". It seems you want to cut it back to normal right on the beat, but something sounds off to me. In my head, I can almost hear the phasey part slowly fading back to normal and sounding pretty good. Maybe give it a try. Just my 2 cents. :)

Yo Greg,

Thanx alot for the comments. Good ears. I did this drum track about 10 months ago, and my floor tom skin was dead, so were the other toms, but I was able to get them to sound alright. To make it worse, it's an 18" so it farts out easily.

I re-mixed it with the kik lower and tried to get a better transition out of the flange.

Thanx again for all the advice.

Agree with Greg across the board. I like your big kicks, but this one was a teeny bit too big...
