Has anyone heard of Kid antrim before?
They sent me an email saying that they found my music on Sounclick and would like me to submit a few songs and if sucessfull the songs will be featured on a compilation cd of varying artist to be sent to record companies and radio stations. They havent said anything about a fee, but i heard that they are asking for like $30 or something to cover costs of production etc.

Sounds good, but also theres a chance it could be a scam as there are loads of scammers on the net these days.

If anyone has heard about Kid antrim please let us know what they are about and if they are cool.
Cheers.

Run them through google and see what you find. Do your research. Here's what people on another forum had to say:

I agree with most of what is said on that other forum. You're paying them to put your song together with a bunch of other songs that may or may not make your song come across as better or worse. Any idea as to whether they have any credibility with the labels to which they send the compilations? Are these considered jokes within the industry?

Were it me, I'd probably pass.

Cheers Monsoon. Not sure if it sounds that good really. How can i trust someone i dont even know and dont even know if or where they will send my song(s)!
If i found positive feedback on this from former people using Kid antrim then maybe i would consider it. Maybe..

Positive feedback - that's pretty much the thing. I didn't come across any anectodal evidence that being "featured" actually did anything for anyone other than give them a line for their publicity materials ("featured on Kidd Anthem compilation"). But, I didn't look very hard or very long. Seems to me it's kind of like that old gig - hey, we'll put you in the "Who's Who" album this year for only $75.

There are lots of these operations about. Save your money. You pay them 30$ to put your song on a CD along with lots of others, they contacted you at roandom ,just like they've done with countless other artists fishing for people to give them $30. Once they have 15 or so they'll burn a few CDs, and send them off to labels and they've fulfilled their contract with you, and you have gained nothing, and that's it.

Beware of people who contact you at random and know nothing about you or your music, but offer something for a fee.

I'm bumping this tread back to life.

I had a tune on a complication CD recently, and then I too got an email from Kid Antrim Music. They said they want my song on their own compliation CD, which they'll send out to "record labels". .....for a fee of $50.

So, has anyone else dealt with this outfit? I assume it is a legal but useless scam. I've seen many of them in the past.

I mean, why don't I just sell out to TAXI instead of Kid Antrim?

My gut reaction is I should tell them "Sell my songs as an agent, and tell me what percent you want" instead. Isn't that the usual business relationship I should be looking for?

Tell you what...Give me 20 bucks, and I'll put your song on a CD and "present it to record companies and radio stations". Please give me a break.

Same old response really, no legitimate organisation interested in representing you will ask for a $50 fee, it doesn't make sense, unless that is they hope to get lots of $50 amounts from gullible and desperate hopefulls.

Spend the $50 yourself on postage and packaging, do some research get names and addresses, send the CDs out yourself...

No problem with reviving the thread, even though it's boring to some of us, there are always new people who aren't so aware of scams.
